The S7480C-SEF2-PA is a servo drive from the Kollmorgen S700 Servo Drives series. It supplies regulated three-phase power to compatible servomotors, closes the velocity and position loops, and returns operating status to the plant controller. The unit is intended for medium-to-large automation cells that need precise motion control together with onboard functional safety. This makes it suitable for coordinated axes that must maintain repeatable speed and position during indexing, transfer, and positioning tasks.

The power section accepts line voltages from 208 to 480 V and is rated for a motor current of 48 Arms. It can handle up to 35 kVA of input power, while the output stage can supply a peak of 96 Arms at a switching frequency of 8 kHz for short acceleration bursts without current foldback. Residual voltage drop across the output devices is limited to 6 V, which helps reduce thermal stress at the coldplate. A dual-channel STO circuit provides a safe torque-off path that disconnects the power devices without relying on mechanical relays, and the integrated coldplate cooling arrangement conducts losses into the machine frame instead of using forced air.

Two differential analog inputs present a load of 20 kΩ to the upstream controller, and each of the two analog outputs resolves command data down to 0.38 mV over a full-scale span of ±10 V. During standby, the drive dissipates only 24 W, and that level is managed by an onboard fan controller card that operates the controlled fan separately from the main processor. The coldplate variant has a total mass of 10.4 kg, which supports panel mounting without additional bracing in many cabinets. Its expansion slot accepts a dedicated fan controller card, and the coldplate interface is compatible with liquid-cooled or conduction-cooled panels when higher ambient temperatures are expected.
