The S7480C-PBF2-S3 servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen and is part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It provides the power stage and motion control functions needed to operate brushless and induction motors in automated assembly cells, gantries, and packaging stations. Supplied in the coldplate option, the drive is intended to be bolted to a machine-side heat sink instead of using an integrated fan. Its housing measures 190 mm in width, 244 mm in depth, and 386 mm in height without connectors, which helps reduce the panel space required for installation.

Continuous current delivery reaches 48 Arms, giving the unit the capacity to support medium-power axes during prolonged operation. For acceleration bursts or rapid indexing, it can supply a peak current of 96 Arms before returning to its continuous rating to limit thermal strain. The input bridge accepts three-phase supplies from 208 to 480 V, and it can draw up to 35 kVA at full load. Internal copper losses produce a voltage drop of 6 V at the output terminals when rated current is flowing. When the drive is mounted on a 400 VAC bus, the power stage dissipates 635 W of heat, while the disabled power section releases only 24 W. Fieldbus performance reaches 12 MBaud, allowing cyclic position updates in tight motion loops. For machine safety integration, the embedded card provides nine inputs and seven single-ended outputs, with a response time of 4 ms; dual-channel STO removes torque directly at the power stage. The assembly weighs 10.4 kg, so it can be mounted without lifting equipment in many panel installations. An unused top-panel slot accepts the fan controller expansion card, which allows the system to operate enclosure blowers when ambient temperatures rise.
