The S7480C-FBF2-S4 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit provides closed-loop control of synchronous or asynchronous servo motors used in packaging, material handling, and other industrial automation tasks. By processing feedback and modulating phase current, it links the plant motion controller to the motor windings while managing torque, speed, and position with high bandwidth and integrated safety functions.

Electrical compatibility covers a supply range of 208...480 V, allowing the same model to operate on low- or high-voltage networks without tap changes. Within that range, the drive can accept up to 35 kVA of input power and provide a continuous output current of 48 Arms, giving adequate capacity for mid-frame motors in demanding cyclic duty. The output stage is pulse-width modulated at 8 kHz, which helps limit ripple while keeping switching losses manageable. Under full load at 480 V, the internal thermal path must remove 685 W of heat, a value used when planning enclosure ventilation. The cold-plate option adds a heat-spreading base that weighs 10.4 kg and allows heat dissipation to remain at only 24 W when the power stage is off. Motor selection requires a minimum inductance of 0.88 mH, which supports stable current regulation at the rated bus voltage. During switching, the phase-to-phase voltage rises at 4.8 kV/µs, so shielded cable and proper grounding are required. Acoustic output does not exceed 62 dB(A) at a distance of 1 m. The drive also includes dual-channel STO circuits, a fan-controller expansion card, and a residual drop of 6 V across the power semiconductors.
