The S7480A-SNF2-S3 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. It regulates torque, speed, and position of brushless servo motors in automated machinery where tight motion control is required. By converting three-phase mains power into controlled output current, the unit serves as an axis amplifier within distributed SynqNet or fieldbus architectures.

Input flexibility covers a three-phase supply range of 208 to 480 V, and the internal converter is rated for 35 kVA of apparent power at full load. Continuous output capability reaches 48 Arms, produced by an H-bridge that switches at 8 kHz to reduce current ripple, while the output form factor remains at 1.01. An IP20 enclosure allows installation inside control cabinets that provide the required external protection. Protective functions are handled by the Safety 1-2 (S3) card, and dual-channel STO can be activated through hard-wired inputs when category-3 power isolation is required. A SynqNet interface occupies slot 1 for deterministic network communication with the system controller.

During transients, the drive can supply 96 Arms for rapid acceleration, and the power stage is protected against cable resonance by a minimum load inductance of 0.88 mH. With 480 V applied, the switching edges produce a dv/dt of 4.8 kV/µs, so shielded motor leads are required. Losses appear as only 685 W of heat on a matched cold plate, and the optional cold plate with coated PCBs improves mounting flexibility and contamination resistance. The aluminum plate weighs 10.4 kg, and the integrated fan controller expansion card keeps acoustic output below 62 dB(A). A residual voltage drop of 6 V across the output devices helps preserve motor torque fidelity. Mechanical integration is also supported by a height of 386 mm without connectors.
