S7480A-SNF2-PA is an industrial servo amplifier. It is designed and produced by Kollmorgen. The amplifier is part of the S700 product line. It is known as a servo amplifier because it supports feedback and forms part of a closed loop control system. The amplifier is deployed in industries for speed and torque control of compatible servo motors. Sensors on motors connected to the amplifier measure motor speed, torque and position. This information, known as feedback, is transmitted to the servo amplifier. Control algorithms running on the amplifier factor in motor feedback to ensure that motor parameters comply with desired values configured during amplifier commissioning. Kollmorgen provides PC-based software for amplifier configuration. A keypad and LCD display on the unit can also be used for amplifier configuration.
An RS-232 serial interface on the S7480A-SNF2-PA amplifier allows serial communication with computers and terminals. Each S700 series amplifier has three slots for expansion cards. All three slots on the S7480A-SNF2-PA amplifier are occupied by factory-installed expansion cards. Slot 1 is equipped with a SynqNet card, slot 2 is equipped with a fan control card, and slot 3 is equipped with a position I/O monitor card. Several other expansion cards are available from Kollmorgen for satisfying a wide range of application requirements. The input voltage range for the amplifier is 208 to 480 Volts AC. Nominal output of the unit is 48 Amps rms. The maximum output of the unit is 96 Amps rms. The amplifier comes in an IP20 rated housing which must be installed inside a switchgear cabinet.
