The S7480A-PBF2-S4 is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It interfaces with brushless AC motors to execute precise velocity and position loops in automated packaging, material-handling, and converting machinery. Its architecture supports integration with multi-axis motion controllers through standard fieldbuses, so the drive can operate as part of coordinated motion systems. Conformal coating on the boards and the coldplate-and-coated-PCBs option help protect the unit from moisture and conductive dust in demanding enclosures.

The drive supplies a peak phase current of 96 Arms during acceleration events, and its continuous thermal limit is 48 Arms. A line-side supply capability of 35 kVA is required to support full-load operation, while pulse-width modulation runs at 8 kHz to control motor current. The power stage accepts mains within 208…480 V, allowing use on global three-phase systems without narrowing the installation to a single regional voltage. Heat is removed through a coldplate base that couples to a machine liquid circuit rather than depending only on cabinet air, and a dedicated fan-controller expansion card can supervise auxiliary blowers when they are installed. Dual-channel STO disables the output stage without external contactors. The drive permits up to 30 power-on cycles per hour in applications with frequent indexing or repeated machine starts.

For cabinet planning, the enclosure is 190 mm wide, extends 244 mm in depth, and rises to 386 mm in height, with all dimensions excluding connectors. A mass of 10.4 kg allows direct mounting to structural plates that can also serve as the coldplate surface, which helps simplify installation where cooling is built into the machine frame. Operational sound pressure remains below 62 dB(A), which helps keep nearby machine areas quieter during operation.
