The S7480A-NANA-S3 is a servo amplifier produced by Kollmorgen and assigned to the S700 Servo Drives series. As an S700 Servo Drive, the unit conditions three-phase mains power for use by connected servo motors. It regulates motor current and exchanges real-time fieldbus data so that servo motors can follow commanded torque, speed, or position profiles in industrial automation systems. This operating approach lets a central controller coordinate axis motion with fast response during packaging, material handling, and other automated processes.

As a 208 to 480 V class device, the drive draws a rated input power of 35 kVA and delivers a continuous motor phase current of 48 Arms. The internal IGBTs switch at 8 kHz, while DC-link protection activates at 800 V to prevent excess bus energy. A dv/dt value of 4.0 kV/µs describes the maximum voltage rise on phase edges, which helps when selecting motor cables. Dual-channel STO disconnects the power stage for functional safety, and the drive uses a minimum load inductance of 0.74 mH when supplied from a 400 V bus. No expansion card is required because EtherCAT and CANopen interfaces are already on the control board, and the coldplate with coated PCBs supports operation in humid or particulate environments.

Mechanical integration is aided by a width of 190 mm, a depth of 285 mm, and a height of 505 mm with connectors, while coldplate flatness remains within 25 µm per 100 mm so heat transfer to the mounting surface stays consistent. The drive can source a peak motor current of 96 Arms for rapid acceleration and absorb regenerative energy through its braking circuit, handling pulse power up to 50 kW and continuous external brake power of 8 kW when paired with a 15 Ω resistor. Bus voltage surges begin to dissipate at a 720 V threshold, and only a 6 V residual drop appears across the internal semiconductor brake switch during braking.
