The S7480A-NAF2-S3 servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen and belongs to the S700 Servo Drives series. As a closed-loop amplifier, it supplies precise torque and velocity control to synchronous or induction motors used in automated packaging, material handling, and printing machines. The unit is delivered on a cold-plate base with coated printed circuit boards, so it can be mounted against an external heat sink in environments that demand higher protection against condensation or airborne chemicals.

The drive accepts a three-phase supply between 208–480 V and draws up to 35 kVA when operating at its continuous load point. From that input, it delivers a rated output of 48 Arms, while short acceleration bursts can reach 96 Arms without loss of regulation. A fast control loop running every 62.5 µs allows the current regulator to correct motor torque quickly, maintaining stable motion even with rapidly changing loads. Dual-channel STO circuitry removes motor power for safety without shutting down the control electronics. Two analog inputs support velocity or torque commands, four digital inputs accept direction or enable signals, and the dual digital I/O ports can be configured for status feedback or auxiliary control. A cold-plate thermal path and an optional fan-controller expansion card coordinate heat removal so internal temperatures stay within limits while noise emission is held to 62 dB(A).

The enclosure measures 505 mm in height, 190 mm in width, and 285 mm in depth when the connectors are fitted, allowing the drive to fit beside other automation components in a control cabinet. It weighs 10.4 kg, which provides useful thermal mass for the cold-plate design while remaining manageable for cabinet mounting. The coated PCB finish resists moisture, and the option package combines that coating with the cold-plate base to extend service life in humid or particulate-laden facilities.
