S7480A-NAF2-S3 is a S700 series digital servo amplifier. It is manufactured by Kollmorgen. The amplifier has a modular design. Three expansion card slots are available on the front of the unit. Operators can order pre-installed expansion cards or order cards separately and install them in the field. The amplifier unit comes with two pre-installed expansion cards. Slot 1 on the unit is vacant. Slot 2 on the unit is occupied by a fan control card. A safety card is installed in slot 3. The fan control card is used for applications that require reduction in amplifier noise emissions. Peak noise output of the S7480A-NAF2-S3 amplifier is 62 dB. The internal cooling fan is responsible for a majority of the noise emissions. The F2 fan control card either reduces the fan speed or turns it off.
Factors that determine fan operation are ambient temperature and heat sink temperature.
