The S7480A-FBF2-PM is an AC servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. It is intended to regulate synchronous or induction motors in industrial automation lines where tight velocity and torque control are required. The unit converts three-phase mains energy into controlled, pulse-width-modulated output and supports auxiliary functions such as dynamic braking and safe torque off to simplify machine design.

The power stage accepts line voltages from 208–480 V and can draw up to 35 kVA at full load. From that input, it delivers a continuous phase current of 48 Arms, while short-term demands are met with a peak value of 96 Arms for rapid acceleration or disturbance rejection. Encoder signals are handled by the feedback channel at frequencies up to 1.5 MHz, enabling high-resolution position loops with minimal phase lag. Additional operating data include a rated brake output of 3 A, continuous brake power of 8 kW, and mechanical dimensions of 505 mm × 190 mm × 285 mm (H × W × D). A dedicated fan controller card manages the heat sink blower, which switches on at 80 °C, and overall acoustic emission does not exceed 62 dB(A).

The drive is housed in an IP20 enclosure for cabinet mounting and incorporates dual-channel STO circuitry that removes energy from the power stage without affecting the control logic. During regenerative events, its brake transistor directs excess energy to an external resistor of 15 ohms, preventing DC bus overvoltage and protecting connected equipment. Cold plate construction and coated PCBs improve heat transfer and resistance to contaminants, while field devices can be supplied with a 5 V Posi/O reference and 300 mA encoder power. Total installed mass is 10.4 kg, allowing installation on standard backplanes without heavy support brackets.
