Kollmorgen manufactures the S7480A-EIF2-F2, a servo drive in the S700 Servo Drives series. The unit converts plant-level AC into regulated motor current so that positioning tables, winders, and pick-and-place axes follow commands from the machine controller without overshoot. Its power stage, signal processing, and integrated coldplate let the drive mount directly to a thermally managed panel and support consistent motion performance in demanding industrial automation tasks.

The drive operates on a three-phase supply from 208–480 V and is built for loads that draw up to 35 kVA of input power. A continuous output capability of 48 Arms supports medium-to-large servomotors, while a switching frequency of 8 kHz shapes the PWM waveform to reduce torque ripple. During full-load operation at 480 V, the power stage releases 685 W of heat, which the base-mounted coldplate carries away. Its center temperature must stay below 75 °C, and the internal fan turns on when 65 °C is reached. Logic interfaces draw only 7 mA from the control supply, provide a maximum signal sink of 500 mA, and can toggle digital outputs in 10 ms. Line regeneration losses are limited by a residual voltage drop of 6 V, and overall noise emission is limited to 62 dB(A).

For machine I/O, the S7480A-EIF2-F2 provides 14 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs that can be expanded with the included fan-controller card. Safety is handled through a dual-channel STO circuit that removes drive energy without external contactors. Thermal performance is supported by a coldplate resistance of 0.051 K/W, and the aluminum base weighs 10.4 kg, which helps add mechanical damping. The option set of coldplate and coated PCBs protects the control electronics against moisture and conductive dust for reliable operation in factory environments.
