S7480A-2CF2-S3 is a high-performance Kollmorgen S700 series servo amplifier. It supports features designed for the closed loop control of industrial motors. Industrial control systems are based on either open loop control or closed loop control. Open loop control does not use feedback. On the other hand, closed loop control uses motor feedback for precise control of motor speed, current and position. S700 amplifiers support encoder, resolver and more feedback evaluation methods. They are compatible with multiple types of servo motors including DC, linear, synchronous and asynchronous motors. These features enable S700 amplifier use with a wide range of Kollmorgen industrial motors. Additional S700 amplifier features include dual-channel safe torque off, Ethernet and CANopen interfaces, RS-232 for serial communication, three expansion card slots and a memory card slot.
All three expansion slots on the S7480A-2CF2-S3 amplifier are occupied by factory-installed cards. Slot 1 is occupied by a 2CAN module, slot 2 is occupied by a fan control card and slot 3 is occupied by a safety card. Operating voltage range of the unit is 208 to 480 Volts AC. The rated output current is 48 Amps rms. The peak output current is 96 Amps rms. Output current is constant across the input voltage range. However, the thermal dissipation of the S7480A-2CF2-S3 unit varies across the input voltage range. The storage temperature is -25 to 55 degrees Celsius. S700 units can be stored for up to one year without any restrictions. When stored for longer than one year, the onboard capacitors require reforming prior to system startup. Reforming requires application of 230 Volts AC to the L1/L2 terminals for 30 minutes. All other electrical connections must be switched off during reforming.
