S7480A-2CF2-PA is a digital servo amplifier. It is a product of Kollmorgen and is part of the S700 series. The amplifier is designed for motor control in industrial applications. It can be used with synchronous motors, asynchronous motors, linear motors and DC motors. S700 series amplifiers support multiple feedback evaluation methods. As a result, they can work in combination with a wide range of Kollmorgen industrial motors. S700 amplifiers support a wide input voltage range from 208 to 480 Volts AC. Single-phase AC can be used for setup. However, three-phase AC input is required during operation with a connected load. Kollmorgen has designed the S7480A-2CF2-PA amplifier for direct connection to AC mains, provided that the AC mains is grounded. If the AC mains is ungrounded, an isolation transformer can be used for protection against surges and transients on the AC mains.
Rated output of the S7480A-2CF2-PA amplifier is 48 Amps. This rated output is available when the input voltage is as per specifications, the altitude is less than 1000 meters, and the ambient temperature is between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. The rated output is available over the entire input voltage range. Peak output of the amplifier, which it can sustain for 5 seconds, is 96 Amps rms. The amplifier is equipped with three expansion cards, including a fan control card, a position I/O monitor card, and a 2CAN module. Operators can use PC-based software for amplifier configuration. A keypad is also available on the unit for configuration. Amplifier firmware and operating parameters can be backed up on a removable memory card. In case of failure or malfunction, the backups can be used for rapid commissioning of a replacement unit.
