S74802-SEF2-S3 is a modular servo amplifier with three expansion slots. It is manufactured by Kollmorgen. The amplifier belongs to the S700 series. Integrated features available on the amplifier include keypad and LED display, memory card slot, dual channel safe torque off, internal cooling fan, EtherCAT and CANopen for network communication and Rs-232 serial for terminal communication. All three expansion slots on the S74802-SEF2-S3 amplifier are occupied by factory installed expansion cards. A SERCOS 2 card occupies slot 1. SERCOS is a standard for high-speed communication over Ethernet based networks. It used fiber optics as the physical transmission medium. Ring topology used by SERCOS is fault tolerant and ensures high network availability. The SERCOS node address can be set using the keys on the front of the amplifier. The SERCOS node address can also be modified in the PC based setup software. A fan control card occupies slot 2. This card can reduce the speed of the internal cooling and switch its power on and off. The card is used to reduce noise emissions of the cooling fan. A SIL-2/SIL-3 safety card occupies slot 3 on the amplifier. Kollmorgen has designed the S74802-SEF2-S3 amplifier for connection to AC supplies that provide 208 to 480 Volts AC. Three-phase input is required for regular operation. Single-phase input can be used for amplifier set up. The unit requires 35 kVA input power for continuous output. Its continuous output current rating is 48 Amps and the peak output rating is 96 Amps. Peak current output is available for five seconds. Weight of the S74802-SEF2-S3 amplifier is 13 kilograms. It has an IP20 rated housing which must be installed inside a suitable switchgear cabinet.
