The S74802-SEF2-PM servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. Classified within the product line as an S700 servo drive, it governs torque, speed, and position for brushless and induction motors in automated cells. By converting three-phase mains power into a controlled output bus, the unit provides fast response and repeatable motion for packaging, printing, and material-handling machinery, while its SERCOS interface allows deterministic network coordination across multiple axes.

Its power section accepts line voltages between 208…480 V, and with a continuous output of 48 Arms, it can drive servomotors without derating. At full load, the converter handles 35 kVA, so upstream breakers and busbars must be sized accordingly. Functional safety is integrated through a dual-channel STO input that removes motor torque as soon as both safety channels open. Control electronics remain active from a dedicated 24 VDC auxiliary supply, which maintains fieldbus communication during mains isolation. Logic and feedback wiring are connected through an X5 9-pin SubD connector that operates at a 5 V level, while high-speed motion commands arrive through an optical F-SMA SERCOS port. The drive is assembled on standard PCBs, and an internal fan-controller expansion card regulates airflow to the heat sink when thermal thresholds are met.

The enclosure carries an IP20 protection rating, making the unit suitable for mounting inside a ventilated control cabinet rather than on an open machine frame. With all connectors installed, it stands 505 mm high, spans 190 mm in width, and protrudes 285 mm in depth, so the cabinet must provide enough panel space and door clearance. The aluminum housing limits overall mass to 13 kg, which keeps the unit manageable during installation or removal. Forced convection begins automatically once ambient temperature reaches 65 °C, helping the heat sink and power modules remain within their permissible operating range during high-duty cycles.
