Product Description:

The S74802-PBF2-S3 is a Kollmorgen servo drive in the S700 Servo Drives series. Intended for mid-to-high power axes, it converts incoming three-phase mains into precisely modulated output currents that synchronize brushless servo motors with motion commands from PLCs or CNCs. By combining power electronics, control functions, and onboard cooling supervision in a single chassis, the unit simplifies panel layouts in packaging, metal-forming, and material-handling equipment that require accurate velocity regulation and fast torque transients.

It operates from a three-phase supply in the 208 to 480 V range, drawing up to 36 kVA at full load. The power stage delivers a continuous output of 48 Arms, while transient demands can be met with 96 Arms during peak acceleration. A current form factor of 1.01 keeps harmonic distortion low, and the residual voltage drop across the output transistors is 6 V, which helps limit internal losses. The PWM bridge switches at 8 kHz, and a 16 kHz setting is available when the load is below 50% to reduce audible noise. Stable current control requires connected motors to present at least 0.88 mH of inductance at full bus voltage. Standard PCBs are supplied, and an internal fan-controller expansion card supervises cooling airflow.

At the upper end of the supply range, the inverter edges reach 4.8 kV/µs, so shielded motor cables are recommended to limit capacitive discharge. Heat generated by switching and conduction losses totals 685 W and must be removed by panel ventilation. Acoustic output from the cabinet stays below 62 dB(A) at one meter. Functional safety is addressed by the integrated dual-channel STO circuit, which removes torque-producing energy without external contactors. The 13 kg assembly mounts on a backplate, and the fan controller maintains airflow across the electronics to keep temperatures within limits.
