The S74802-NANA-S4 is a Kollmorgen servo drive from the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts motion commands from a PLC or motion controller into three-phase output currents that regulate torque, speed, and position of brushless servo motors, creating precise axis control for packaging machines, pick-and-place robots, and automated conveyors. By closing the current loop inside the drive, it delivers fast response and relieves the central controller from high-frequency calculations while linking the control cabinet to the mechanical load.

Within a 190 mm-wide metal frame, the drive maintains an IP20 ingress rating for protected cabinet service. The supply accepts three-phase mains over 208…480 V, and from that input it provides a continuous output of 48 Arms and can process up to 35 kVA of apparent power. An inverter carrier frequency of 8 kHz balances current ripple with thermal loss. Residual voltage drop is 6 V, and acoustic emission stays below 62 dB(A). Two analog inputs permit direct speed or torque references, while EtherCAT and CANopen interfaces are available on board, eliminating the need for an expansion card. Physical dimensions of 244 mm depth and 386 mm height allow stacking on standard DIN rails without obstructing airflow.

The drive includes built-in safety and thermal management features. A Dual channel STO circuit removes drive power, and the secondary path responds within 2 ms to satisfy machine stop categories. With the power stage disabled, internal losses are limited to 24 W, simplifying enclosure cooling. Installation mass is 13 kg, which keeps handling manageable during mounting. Standard PCBs are fitted, and forced-air flow through top and bottom vents carries heat away from the semiconductors. This thermal strategy keeps component temperatures under control without adding auxiliary heat sinks.
