The S74802-NANA-NA servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the S700 Servo Drives series. The unit forms the regulated interface between a three-phase mains supply and the torque-controlled servo motors that position axes in packaging, printing, and robotic cells. By modulating current and voltage in real time, it supplies the precision and repeatability required for closed-loop industrial motion.

The drive accepts a three-phase AC supply at the industrial standard 50/60 Hz and operates across a voltage range of 208...480 V. Within this range, it can draw up to 35 kVA while delivering a continuous phase current of 48 Arms to the motor terminals. For transient load surges, it supplies up to 96 Arms for 5 s, a reserve that supports rapid acceleration and counters sudden inertia changes. Current pulses are generated at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz, enabling fine pulse-width modulation and low ripple torque. Safety is addressed by the integrated Dual channel STO, which removes drive energy to the motor coils without external relays.

The housing measures 190 mm wide, 244 mm deep, and 386 mm high, resulting in a cabinet footprint that stays manageable even when multiple axes are installed. At 13 kg, the unit can be mounted on standard DIN rails or backplates without additional reinforcement. Continuous self-heating is limited by a quiescent loss of 24 W, while full-load switching at 480 V produces 685 W of thermal output that must be removed by panel airflow or liquid cooling. A residual DC link drop of 6 V keeps the internal bus under control during coast-down. Communication with upper-level controllers is handled through CANopen and EtherCAT, and no expansion card is required because both buses are routed on the base board, which simplifies wiring and preserves the STO paths.
