Product Description:

The S74802-NAF2-PM servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It is designed to modulate three-phase power for servo motors while closing the current, velocity, and position loops required in packaging, printing, and material-handling systems. By combining power electronics, control DSP, and safety logic in one frame, the unit eliminates the need for separate amplifier and motion cards and helps simplify industrial cabinet layouts.

A current-controller loop time of 62.5 µs refreshes torque commands at more than 16 kHz. The continuous output current is 48 Arms, and short-term peaks can reach 96 Arms; the 1.01 output-current form factor indicates minimal RMS heating during those peaks. When the DC link is 400 V, motor inductance must be no lower than 0.74 mH to keep ripple current within acceptable limits. Device switching produces a dv/dt of 4.0 kV/µs, so shielded motor cables are recommended. The input side is sized for 35 kVA, and a 6 V residual drop appears across the internal DC bus during load transients. Physical dimensions without connectors are 190 mm in width, 386 mm in height, and 244 mm in depth, allowing installation in 300 mm deep enclosures.

The drive accepts mains in the range of 208–480 V and should not be power cycled more than 30 times per hour to limit capacitor stress. Its functional safety block provides dual-channel STO, which disconnects motor energy when both inputs are low. A fan controller expansion card commands the cooling blower to full speed when the heatsink reaches 80 °C. The Posi/O interface supplies 5 V at 250 mA to the encoder and supports signal frequencies up to 1.5 MHz for high-resolution feedback. Standard PCBs are fitted for general-purpose environments, and the housing can be integrated with external breakers or line filters in a typical control cabinet.
