The S74802-FBF2-PM is a Kollmorgen drive from the S700 Servo Drives series. Designed for cabinet mounting, this AC-fed unit rectifies and modulates power so that synchronous or asynchronous servomotors receive tightly regulated current, speed, and position commands in automated assembly lines, packaging cells, and material-handling gantries. Its IP20 housing keeps live conductors shielded, but the surrounding cabinet must provide protection from dust and moisture. This arrangement suits enclosed control panels where the drive can share space with other motion components.

Electrically, the drive accepts a mains window of 208 to 480 V, produces a continuous phase current of 48 Arms, and handles up to 35 kVA of apparent input power. Stable current regulation requires a minimum motor inductance of 0.38 mH at 208 V, and the bridge switches with a dv/dt of 2.1 kV/µs at that supply level. The onboard fan-controller expansion card supervises blowers, and idle dissipation is 24 W during powered standby. Encoder port FB-2 to 1 supplies 5 V DC at 300 mA for feedback devices. Functional safety is provided by dual-channel STO, which removes torque by disabling the gate drives without cutting the main power path. Under full load, a residual voltage drop of 6 V remains between the DC link and the motor terminals.

Mechanically, the unit stands 386 mm high, 190 mm wide, and carries a mass of 13 kg, allowing vertical panel mounting inside standard enclosures. The standard PCBs tolerate cabinet air temperatures until the fan controller activates at 65 °C to increase airflow and keep components within limits. Full-speed switching pushes acoustic output to 62 dB(A), which is noticeable in operation but typical for a forced-air cabinet drive. The Posi/O capture stage accepts incremental encoder pulses up to 1.5 MHz, supporting high-resolution servo loops for linear axes and direct-drive systems. The dimensional format also leaves room for cable routing above and below the unit in compact control cabinets.
