The S74802-EIF2-NA servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen within the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase supply power into pulse-width-modulated output for closed-loop motion control, enabling coordinated torque, speed, and position regulation in automated pick-and-place modules, printing lines, and robotic joints. Integrated safety logic and configurable I/O allow the unit to function as a distributed axis controller in larger EtherCAT or SERCOS networks. This arrangement supports fast command response while keeping motor feedback inside the active control loop.

It accepts input power from 208 to 480 V and supplies a continuous current of 48 Arms to the motor, while permitting short-term peaks of 96 Arms for rapid acceleration. A feeder capacity of 35 kVA covers the converter’s apparent power demand. Internal IGBT modules switch the DC link at 8 kHz, producing a 4.8 kV/µs voltage gradient, and Kollmorgen specifies a motor inductance of at least 0.88 mH at 480 V to moderate current rise. Bus regulation drops by only 6 V under rated load. Heat generated during switching is 685 W, while idle dissipation is 24 W, and a fan-controller expansion card starts airflow once the heat sink reaches 65 °C. Dual-channel STO removes power to the output stage without external relays, and the drive provides fourteen digital inputs plus eight digital outputs. The drive also uses standard PCBs in its electrical design.

With connectors installed, the enclosure is 505 mm high, 190 mm wide, and weighs 13 kg. Maximum acoustic emission is limited to 62 dB(A), which helps keep cabinet noise at a moderate level during operation. Its height and width allow vertical panel mounting where spacing must be planned around neighboring drives and supply modules. The compact housing also fits control cabinets that have limited room for multi-axis hardware.
