The S72402-PBNAPM is a digital servo amplifier produced by Kollmorgen in the S700 Servo Drives series. It regulates three-phase motor torque and position for automated machinery that requires precise closed-loop motion control. This edition uses standard printed circuit boards, measures 100 mm wide and 382 mm high with its connectors fitted, and limits audible emissions to 65 dB(A), allowing installation inside typical control cabinets without additional sound treatment.

Input compatibility spans a line voltage range of 208–480 V, so the drive can connect directly to common industrial power supplies. Under nominal conditions, it converts up to 18 kVA into motor power and delivers a continuous output current of 24 Arms. The IGBT bridge switches at 8 kHz, reducing current ripple while keeping switching losses manageable. During regeneration, the internal DC-link voltage may approach 900 VDC, and the drive’s clearances and insulation accommodate that limit. Protection is coordinated with a 30 A AC supply fuse, while the cooling system must remove 330 W of heat at full load. Two 9-pin Sub-D PROFIBUS connectors simplify field wiring. The PosI/O expansion card exchanges machine signals at a 5 V logic level.

The power stage includes a brake interface that carries up to 3 A and diverts regenerative energy into a built-in 23 Ω resistor capable of intermittently absorbing 200 W. An external brake network rated at 4 kW can be added when greater dissipation is required. Safety is provided by the dual-channel STO function, which removes torque-producing power from the motor. The unit has a mass of 5.5 kg, which assists with handling during installation. The housing supports natural convection as a supplement to panel cooling.
