Product Description:
Kollmorgen’s S71202-NAF2PM is a digital servo drive that operates with synchronous, asynchronous and DC motors. It comes with an IP20 rating while functions within temperatures up to 40°C at a maximum altitude of 3300 ft above sea level. The drive accepts a 3-phase AC input distributed across 208V to 480V voltage values.
The S71202-NAF2PM servo drive generates a standard output current of 12 Arms but extends to 24 Arms for 5 seconds and 30 Arms for 2 seconds while delivers power output of 9 kVA. It has a software version 5.18 and hardware revision 02.10 while features an integrated controlled fan located at slot 2 under F2 cooling mode to handle thermal needs. The S71202 drive embeds safe torque off (STO) as a safety feature which holds SIL CL3 and PL e certification. It provides RS232 alongside EtherCAT and CANopen connectivity interface through RJ45 Ethernet ports which are built into the unit through a unified entry. The Pos I/O expansion card located in slot 3 lets users emulate encoders while receiving position feedback while the digital input/output functionality of the controller is available through X4A and X4B connectors. The S71202 servo drive’s feedback system supports resolver technology as well as encoder devices like BiSS, EnDat, HIPERFACE and SSI which integrates through X1 and X2 ports.
The S71202-NAF2PM servo drive connects to power supply through X0 terminals which bear labels L1 L2 L3 PE while the X8 connector serves two functions by linking the DC bus power and connecting external brake resistors. The S71202 servo drive incorporates onboard protection that defends against both overtemperature situations and overvoltage events. The front panel consists of 3-digit LEDs together with keys which serve diagnostic and configuration functions.
Frequently Asked Questions about S71202-NAF2PM:
Q: How does the F2 cooling mode in S71202-NAF2PM enhance thermal management?
A: The F2 mode utilizes an internal fan located in Slot 2, ensuring active airflow and component protection during high-load operations. This improves drive longevity in confined cabinet installations.
Q: Why is encoder emulation useful in the S71202-NAF2PM?
A: Encoder emulation via the PosI/O card in Slot 3 allows the drive to simulate encoder signals, useful for testing systems or replacing missing physical feedback devices.
Q: How does the S71202-NAF2PM ensure safety with STO certification?
A: The Safe Torque Off feature prevents motor torque generation during faults. Its compliance with SIL CL3 and PL e ensures it meets rigorous machine safety standards.
Q: What is the benefit of using both BiSS and EnDat feedback in S71202-NAF2PM?
A: Supporting BiSS and EnDat enables high-resolution, bidirectional communication for precise position control and diagnostics, optimizing servo performance in dynamic applications.
Q: How does the integrated memory card improve S71202-NAF2PM usability?
A: The memory card allows for easy firmware updates and parameter backups without connecting to a PC. This speeds up field servicing and system replication.
