The S70601-PB is a servo drive built by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. As a closed-loop motor controller, it supplies regulated three-phase power to synchronous or induction servomotors in automated machinery, translating motion commands into torque and speed profiles. The unit is an S700 servo drive and comes with standard printed circuit boards installed. A plug-in PROFIBUS expansion card links the drive to PLC architectures, while a single-channel STO circuit disables motor torque to support safe machine operation.

During normal operation, the drive accepts three-phase mains power from 208 to 480 V and converts it into a controlled DC link that may rise to 900 VDC. From this bus, it delivers a continuous output of 6 A rms and can surge to 18 A rms for two seconds to accelerate high-inertia loads. The input section is rated at 4.5 kVA, and the IGBT bridge is modulated at 8 kHz to minimize motor current ripple. An integrated 33 Ω brake resistor rated at 75 W absorbs regenerated energy during deceleration. When external braking is unnecessary, the electronics dissipate 20 W in standby and 100 W while supplying rated current. These power and loss values guide cabinet ventilation and line-side fuse selection.

The aluminum housing measures 345 mm tall, 70 mm wide, and 243 mm deep without front-mounted connectors, giving it a slim profile for dense multi-axis panels. With the connectors and shield terminals fitted, the footprint grows only marginally, so standard enclosures with a depth of 300 mm provide sufficient space. The assembly weighs 4.4 kg, which limits the mounting load on the supporting panel or rail system. Forced-air paths run from bottom to top across the control and power sections, helping internal components remain within their thermal limits. Clearance around the top edge also provides access to the brake resistor connections during maintenance without requiring removal of the unit from its mounting plane.
