The S70302-NANANA is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency plant power into precisely modulated output phases that synchronize brushless or induction motors with motion commands issued by a PLC or CNC controller. By providing closed-loop regulation of velocity and position, the drive serves as a key actuator component in automated assembly cells, printing lines, and other machinery that demands repeatable, high-speed movement.

The input section accepts a supply from 208…480 V, rectifies it, and creates a DC link that may rise to 900 VDC. Under continuous duty, the inverter delivers 3 Arms, yet it can supply 9 Arms for two seconds and 6 Arms for five seconds to overcome static friction or accelerate large inertias. Pulse-width modulation occurs at 8 kHz, a switching frequency that balances current ripple with thermal stress on the silicon. A minimum motor inductance of 7.4 mH is recommended so the resulting current rise remains within the control loop bandwidth. With a rated input power of 2.2 kVA, the drive dissipates 70 W as heat at full load, so cabinet airflow must accommodate this thermal load. Internal dynamic-braking hardware absorbs 50 W through a 33 Ω resistor, and the same impedance is used for external dump resistors that handle larger kinetic energy events.

Functional safety is provided by a dual-channel STO circuit that removes drive power without external relays. The external brake path can dissipate up to 1 kW, helping protect components during emergency stops. EtherCAT and CANopen interfaces are located on the base board, so no expansion card is required. Standard PCBs are used across the range to keep the electronics layout consistent. The housing is 70 mm wide and weighs 4.4 kg, allowing dense panel layouts with minimal added load.
