Product Description:
The SERVOSTAR-610-AS is a digital servo drive built by Kollmorgen within the S600 Servo Drives series. It is intended for medium-power axes in packaging, material-handling, and assembly equipment, where stable servo response is needed for repeatable machine motion. The unit converts incoming three-phase mains into controlled DC power and then into sinusoidal output for synchronous or induction servomotors. By closing current and velocity loops at high update rates, it carries out positioning and speed commands from a PLC with the accuracy required in automated production cells.
The drive occupies 70 mm of panel width, along with 265 mm of depth and 275 mm of height, which supports dense side-by-side mounting in control cabinets. Its aluminum housing has an IP20 enclosure class, so the unit is intended for installation inside a protective cabinet rather than in open machine space. With a mass of 4 kg, the drive remains manageable for standard panel mounting. Electrically, it supplies a continuous motor phase current of 10 Arms and supports brief peaks of 20 Arms during acceleration or short-term load changes. The dedicated brake output provides 24 V at 2 A, which allows direct connection of motor holding brakes without requiring a separate relay module.
Drive-to-motor matching is supported across load inductances from 4 mH to 25 mH, helping the current loop remain stable with different motor windings and cable arrangements. The internal power stage is rated for 7 kVA, and the thermal design permits continuous dissipation of 90 W without additional cooling aids. A residual DC-link drop of 5 V helps protect the control electronics during bus sag. Safety functions include a restart lock with a 24 VDC coil and four dedicated terminals, which helps prevent unintended restarts after an emergency stop. This arrangement also reduces the number of separate control components that must be added inside the cabinet.
