Product Description:

The SERVOSTAR-606-FAN is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen within the S600 Servo Drives series. The device functions as a power interface between a plant AC mains supply and a feedback-equipped servo motor, providing closed-loop regulation for accurate positioning and velocity control on conveyors, form-fill-seal units, and pick-and-place axes. Because the drive works with motor feedback, it can correct speed and position errors as load conditions change during repeated machine cycles. An integrated fan-assisted heat sink removes operating heat during continuous duty cycles so the assembly can remain within its thermal range.

A common-mode voltage of up to 10 V is permitted on the feedback lines, while the cooling path uses forced convection to keep power components within their operating range. The current form factor of 1.01 indicates that RMS and average motor currents are nearly identical, which makes thermal behavior easier to predict with matched windings. Load matching is supported from 7.5 mH to 40 mH, helping the drive maintain stable current control with higher-inductance motors. The PWM output stage operates at 8 kHz for fine torque control and lower audible noise, and the unit can supply dynamic peaks of 12 Arms while its continuous current remains at 6 Arms for sustained operation.

The input isolation network presents 20 kΩ to analog ground to reduce sensor loading, and the integrated brake chopper can dissipate 200 W through an onboard 33 Ω resistor during deceleration. Base losses are 15 W with no load, and normal operation raises dissipation to 60 W, which corresponds to a rated installed load of 4 kVA on the supply transformer. Relay contacts on the control board can switch 30 VDC or 42 VAC at 0.5 A for external status signals, including ready or fault indication in the control circuit. The residual 5 V drop across the power stage reflects the voltage headroom required by the output devices, so the motor terminal voltage remains slightly below the internal DC bus value under load.
