Product Description:
The SERVOSTAR-606 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the S600 Servo Drives series. It regulates torque, velocity, and position for compatible brushless servomotors, forming a closed-loop actuator stage in automated machinery. By modulating the line power delivered to the motor windings, the unit maintains precise motion sequences in packaging lines, pick-and-place axes, and material-handling cells.
The drive can continuously supply 6 A RMS to the motor and tolerate a transient demand of 12 A RMS during dynamic acceleration. Its output waveform remains nearly sinusoidal, as indicated by an output current form factor of 1.01, which minimizes motor heating and audible noise. A rated installed load of 4 kVA indicates the line-side capacity that must be reserved in the control cabinet. Motor circuit compatibility spans inductances from 7.5 mH to a maximum of 40 mH, allowing the drive to operate with low-impedance and higher-inductance windings. The drive dissipates 60 W at rated current, which must be considered when arranging cabinet ventilation and spacing.
An auxiliary supply provides 24 VDC to the logic and I/O circuits, requiring 1 A when no brake is fitted and 3 A when a holding brake is energized. The dedicated brake circuit can absorb 200 W continuously to manage regenerated energy during vertical-axis stops. Losses across the power stage result in a residual voltage drop of 5 V, which helps preserve motor torque when the bus voltage is low. The idle thermal load remains at 15 W, reducing the cooling demand during standby operation. The housing measures 70 mm wide, 265 mm deep, and 275 mm high, allowing multiple drives to be mounted side by side on a suitable panel. These dimensions should be considered when establishing enclosure depth, ventilation clearance, and cable-routing space.
