Product Description:
The SERVOSTAR-603-AS servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen. It belongs to the S600 Servo Drives series. It functions as a closed-loop power stage that links the facility’s AC mains to a brushless motor, providing the regulated current needed for accurate position, speed, and torque control in industrial automation cells. This arrangement supports repeatable axis response during positioning and speed-regulated motion. It is intended for closed-loop use in machines that require consistent torque delivery and controlled motor response under changing demand.
An external line protection fuse rated at 6 AT shields the supply input, while an internal 24 V auxiliary circuit is separately secured by a 3.15 AT fuse. Under continuous load, the drive dissipates 40 W of heat, and it idles at 15 W of quiescent loss. The output stage can tolerate motor loads between 12 mH and 75 mH; staying within this inductance window keeps current ripple within limits and ensures stable current regulation. During accelerations, the inverter can deliver a peak of 6 Arms for short intervals, assisted by a built-in restart lock that prevents inadvertent energization after a mains interruption. A residual voltage drop of 5 V appears across the power transistors, and the relay interface switches up to 42 VAC or 30 VDC at 500 mA for external contactors and status lamps.
At steady state, the SERVOSTAR-603-AS supplies a rated phase current of 3 Arms, and the connected load should not exceed the drive’s 2 kVA installed capacity during continuous operation. The output current form factor of 1.01 indicates that its RMS value is almost identical to the average, which simplifies thermal calculations for matched motors and helps predict winding heating more directly. Control electronics reference ground through an input resistance of 20 kΩ, limiting leakage currents and improving noise immunity on command and feedback wiring.
