The S62001 is a servo drive supplied by Kollmorgen as part of the S600 Servo Drives series. As a closed-loop amplifier, it converts three-phase mains power into controlled output currents that govern a matched servo motor’s torque, speed, and position in industrial automation cells. The drive forms the interface between motion controllers and mechanical axes, executing set points with integrated modulation, braking, and safety functions that suit packaging, material-handling, and machine-tool applications.
It accepts a supply of 230 to 480 V, allowing the drive to operate with both 230 V and 400 V plant power grids. Under continuous duty, the power stage supplies 20 A RMS, while motion peaks such as acceleration are handled by a momentary ceiling of 40 A RMS; this headroom prevents current limiting when large inertial loads start or reverse. The control electronics receive two differential analog set-point channels that operate over ±10 V. Each channel is processed through a 20 kΩ input stage and refreshed every 62.5 µs, so outer-loop controllers can command high-bandwidth moves without aliasing. With permissible motor inductances from 2 mH to 12 mH, the drive supports compact, low-inductance windings as well as longer-stack motors.
The integrated braking circuit uses a 33 Ω internal resistor that converts surplus regenerative energy into heat. This element is rated for 200 W at 3 × 400 V, providing sufficient capacity for typical indexing or flying-shear cycles. Electrical installation must account for an installed load of 14 kVA, while control cabinet planning benefits from a frontal width of only 120 mm, which allows high-density stacking. A residual voltage drop of 5 V across the power stage aids low-speed torque production, and a built-in restart lock keeps axes disabled until a deliberate acknowledgment is issued after mains power is restored.
