Product Description:
The S62000-550 servo amplifier is produced by Kollmorgen for the S600 Servo Drives series. This unit functions as the intermediary between a plant’s three-phase power supply and the servomotor coils, shaping voltage and current so axes can accelerate, hold position, or follow motion profiles with high accuracy. Integrated control interfaces allow the drive to operate in coordinated multi-axis systems commonly used in pick-and-place cells, feeders, and light machining centers. Its compact frame also simplifies panel layouts in crowded cabinets.
The input stage accepts a supply range of 230–480 V, so the same model can be wired to low-voltage or high-voltage networks without transformer adaptation. At full output, the power section delivers a continuous 20 A rms to the motor terminals and draws an installed load of 14 kVA from the service entrance. The pulse-width modulation stage operates at 8 kHz, reducing torque ripple and enabling smooth control of low-inductance windings within the 2 mH to 12 mH range. An internal brake resistor rated at 33 Ω dissipates regenerative energy during deceleration, helping prevent DC-bus overvoltage. The drive dissipates 200 W at rated current and has a quiescent loss of 15 W when it remains enabled but idle. The output devices have a voltage drop of only 5 V, which helps improve overall efficiency.
The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so installation inside a closed panel is required to protect the unit against accidental contact and the entry of large solid objects. Line protection is provided by a 20 AT supply fuse, while the logic circuits are protected by an internal 3.15 AT fuse on the 24 V supply to help contain electrical faults. With a frame width of 120 mm, the drive can be installed in narrow rows without consuming excessive cabinet space. Acoustic emission remains below 45 dB(A), making the amplifier suitable for operator-attended work cells where lower equipment noise is preferred.
