The S62000 servo amplifier is produced by Kollmorgen for the S600 Servo Drives series. It functions as a three-phase controller that converts plant power into regulated output power for synchronous or induction servomotors. The regulated output enables closed-loop torque, speed, and position control in automated cells and multi-axis assemblies, allowing connected motors to follow commands while responding to changes in operating load.
The drive accepts line supplies from 230 to 480 V and delivers a continuous motor phase current of 20 A rms. Brief transients can reach a peak current of 40 A rms for rapid acceleration. Electrical installation must accommodate an installed load of 14 kVA, while the amplifier rejects 200 W of heat during rated operation. Idle operation draws 15 W, helping reduce standby power consumption inside the control cabinet. The analog command path has an input resistance of 20 kΩ, and feedback regulation remains stable with load inductances from 2 mH to 12 mH. A residual output voltage drop of 5 V occurs across the power devices. The housing measures 120 mm wide, 265 mm deep, and 275 mm high, allowing side-by-side mounting in standard 300 mm enclosures while leaving room for suitable wiring and airflow.
The control electronics receive power from a separate 24 VDC auxiliary rail, which keeps the logic active during mains interruptions for fault reporting and fieldbus communication. Position or velocity commands can be resolved to 1.25 mV, supporting fine adjustments during low-speed motion. Dynamic braking energy is absorbed by an internal resistor with a resistance of 33 ohms, eliminating the need for an external dump load in moderate-inertia systems. The unit has a total mass of 7.5 kg, which reduces the static load placed on the cabinet mounting surface. Its compact housing helps conserve panel space, while the internal braking resistor limits the number of external components required around the amplifier. Separate auxiliary power also allows diagnostic and communication functions to remain available when the main motor supply is interrupted.
