The S61001-SE is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen and positioned within the S600 Servo Drives series. As a drive, it interfaces between a motion controller and a synchronous or induction motor, modulating power to achieve commanded speed or torque in automated machinery. By converting the plant’s AC supply into precision-controlled output, the unit supports positioning, process speed, and duty-cycle repeatability across packaging lines, handling robots, and general machine tools.
The output stage delivers a continuous current of 10 A rms, allowing the drive to handle medium-frame motors without overheating. It accepts a wide mains window of 230 to 480 V, so a single model can be installed in both low- and high-voltage plants. Enclosure protection is rated at IP20, indicating finger-safe openings suited for cabinet installation where airflow is available. An output stage clock of 8 kHz sets the PWM switching frequency, and the higher rate helps reduce current ripple and audible noise in the motor. Power lost as heat is limited to 90 W at rated load, which helps with enclosure ventilation planning and thermal management.
The drive’s apparent power demand reaches 7 kVA, which is useful when sizing branch circuit protection and supply transformers. For dynamic deceleration, an internal brake stage can absorb up to 200 W through a built-in 33 Ω resistor, so many applications do not require an external brake module. Physical installation is simplified by a mass of only 4 kg, and the unit also fits densely packed multi-axis panels with a 70 mm width, 265 mm depth, and 275 mm height. The SERCOS expansion module provides deterministic fiber-optic communication, and the AS electrical option prepares the control interface for standard feedback devices.
