The S61001-PB is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S600 Servo Drives series. In an automation cell, the unit receives motion commands from a controller and modulates three-phase power so a matched servo motor can follow precise velocity and position profiles. The drive’s PROFIBUS DP interface allows multiple axes to communicate over a single fieldbus, making it suitable for coordinated packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and general machine-tool positioning tasks.
The power stage accepts three-phase factory mains supplies ranging from 230–480 V. It delivers a continuous phase current of 10 A rms while accommodating peaks of up to 20 A rms during acceleration. Fast torque regulation is supported by a current loop that updates every 62.5 µs, while common-mode voltage is limited to 10 V to protect insulation systems. The analog inputs have an impedance of 20 kΩ to ground, and a residual voltage drop of 5 V appears between the DC link and motor terminals. The AS electrical option is fitted, and a built-in restart lock prevents automatic re-energizing after a loss of mains power. Communication is provided through an onboard PROFIBUS expansion module, and two 9-pin Sub-D connectors allow in-line wiring without external tees. At idle, the drive dissipates 15 W, and its cabinet width is limited to 70 mm so multiple axes can be mounted side by side.
An auxiliary supply of 24 VDC keeps the control electronics active for fieldbus diagnostics even when the main power bus is off. Position corrections are executed every 250 µs, providing tight following-error control for high-resolution encoders. Under rated motion, the heat sink releases 90 W, and the complete chassis draws a maximum installed load of 7 kVA from the plant distribution system. Operation is permitted at ambient temperatures up to 45 °C without derating. Quiescent dissipation, residual voltage drop, and input impedance remain unchanged throughout this temperature range.
