Product Description:
The S61001 is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the S600 Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase power into precise current and voltage profiles for permanent-magnet servomotors, coordinating speed and position loops in automated machinery. The module mounts in a control cabinet and connects to PLC networks through fieldbus cabling. It supplies filtered motor power while accepting low-voltage command references from the control system.
With a line input ranging from 230 to 480 V AC, the drive can deliver a continuous phase current of 10 A rms. This output has a form factor of 1.01, so motor heating remains consistent with sinusoidal current characteristics. The internal current loop executes every 62.5 µs, while the position loop refreshes every 250 µs to keep following error low. Under rated conditions, the power stage dissipates 90 W, and the total installed load presented to the supply is 7 kVA. Command references enter through an analog channel with a 10 V span and an input impedance of 20 kΩ relative to analog ground. A residual voltage drop of 5 V remains across the power transistors when the output is saturated. For distributed control, the integrated CANopen interface operates at 500 kbaud and exchanges setpoints, feedback, and diagnostic words without additional gateway hardware.
An auxiliary rail of 24 VDC keeps the control electronics active during interruptions to the main power supply and supports a quiescent standby draw of 15 W. Dynamic braking energy is absorbed by an internal resistor rated at 33 Ω, eliminating the need for an external dump load in many medium-inertia axes. The AS electrical option allows the drive to operate with motor inductances ranging from 4 mH to 25 mH. This range permits the unit to work with various Kollmorgen stator lengths without compromising current-loop stability. Across the supported inductance range, the drive maintains predictable torque response during rapid speed changes. Internal temperatures are controlled by a forced-air cooling path during operation.
