The S6100-NA belongs to the S600 Servo Drives series manufactured by Kollmorgen. It is a panel-mounted servo amplifier that converts three-phase mains power into a regulated, high-bandwidth output for brushless motor control in industrial automation cells, packaging machines, and material-handling axes. By combining integrated current regulation with fieldbus connectivity, the drive supplies precise torque and velocity control while conserving cabinet space with its 70 mm frame width.
The power section accepts line supplies from 230 to 480 V and delivers a continuous output of 10 A rms to matched servo motors. For rapid acceleration, it can supply up to 20 A rms for a limited duration, while copper losses at full load result in thermal dissipation of 90 W. When all axes in a cabinet are considered, the drive represents a rated installed load of 7 kVA, which helps with circuit breaker selection and transformer sizing. Permissible motor inductance ranges from 4 mH to 25 mH, so the drive can operate with low-inductance ironless rotors and higher-inductance framed stators without stability issues. The enclosure measures 265 mm deep and 275 mm high without connectors, permitting single-column installation with clearance for field wiring.
The control section offers two analog setpoint inputs for torque or velocity commands. These inputs provide a resolution of 14 bits or 12 bits, depending on the selected channel. Networked operation is provided through a CANopen interface that communicates at 500 kbaud and supports synchronous or asynchronous PDO exchange. Logic electronics, encoder power, and brake release circuits draw from an external 24 VDC auxiliary supply, keeping the control section active during mains interruptions and allowing motor disabling without de-energizing the entire cabinet. Quiescent dissipation is 15 W, which reduces panel heat when the axis is idle, while an input resistance of 20 kΩ protects upstream controllers from loading effects.
