The S60601-SE servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the S600 Servo Drives series. Designed for closed-loop control of synchronous and induction motors in automated machinery, the unit converts three-phase mains power into regulated output that follows torque, speed, and position commands from a PLC or motion controller. In multi-axis installations, it occupies a narrow 70 mm cabinet slot while supporting fiber-optic SERCOS networking for deterministic communication.
The power stage accepts line voltages from 230–480 V, delivers a continuous phase current of 6 A RMS, and handles momentary demands up to 12 A RMS without saturation. Power dissipation at rated current is 60 W, and the output stage accommodates motor inductances between 7.5 mH and 40 mH, providing flexibility across winding designs. The digital signal processor refreshes the current loop every 62.5 µs, while the position loop closes every 250 µs; these short cycles improve stiffness and reduce following error in high-inertia axes. Analog command inputs have a resistance of 20 kΩ, protecting upstream controllers from excessive electrical loading. The electrical option includes a SERCOS expansion module that terminates at an F-SMA connector, enabling fiber-optic communication that resists electromagnetic interference.
The drive stands 275 mm high and 265 mm deep, allowing installation in compact cabinets beside other motion modules. Control electronics are powered by an auxiliary bus of 24 VDC, maintaining diagnostic functions when the main supply is off. During deceleration, an internal brake resistor with a resistance of 33 Ω can dissipate up to 200 W, preventing DC-link overvoltage without external braking hardware. The mains infrastructure must accommodate an installed load of 4 kVA, which accounts for the maximum energy demand at full torque and speed. Rated dissipation limits and support for a broad motor-inductance range make the drive suitable for packaging lines, material-handling systems, and general automation cells that require controlled acceleration and deceleration.
