Product Description:
The S60601-PB is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen and assigned to the S600 Servo Drives series. As a digitally regulated power stage, it links three-phase mains power to a matched servo motor, allowing precise velocity and torque regulation in packaging lines, handling robots, and other motion-focused machinery. The drive integrates axis control, braking energy management, and fieldbus communication in a single panel-mounted housing suitable for industrial automation tasks.
During continuous operation, the drive delivers a phase current of 6 A rms while accepting line voltages from 230 to 480 V. During acceleration, it can supply up to 12 A rms for short intervals, and the output waveform maintains a sinusoidal profile with a current form factor of 1.01. The built-in chopper dissipates regenerated energy through an internal network rated for 200 W and connected to a 33 Ω resistor, allowing medium-inertia axes to be braked without external hardware. Heat dissipation at the rated current is 60 W, whereas quiescent dissipation is 15 W. Motion commands and diagnostic data travel over the PROFIBUS DP fieldbus. A restart lock prevents unintentional operation after a loss and restoration of mains power.
Installation requires a supply capacity of 4 kVA, and the drive supports load inductances from 7.5 mH to 40 mH. Within this range, the residual voltage drop across the power stage remains near 5 V, helping the motor maintain torque at low speeds. The control electronics and I/O use an isolated 24 VDC auxiliary supply. The input stage presents a resistance of 20 kΩ to protective ground, limiting leakage current on the signal lines. The communication hardware uses the AS electrical option and includes a dedicated PROFIBUS module. This module connects through two 9-pin D-Sub connectors, simplifying daisy-chain wiring inside multi-axis cabinets.
