The S60600-SE is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the S600 Servo Drives series. It controls three-phase synchronous or induction motors in automated machinery, delivering regulated torque and speed commands that follow motion profiles from a PLC or motion controller. Within an automation cell, it converts the plant’s AC mains into controlled AC output while a 24 VDC control rail keeps the internal logic active during brief line interruptions. This arrangement helps the control section remain responsive even when the main power path is temporarily disturbed.

The drive operates on a three-phase supply from 230 to 480 V and can deliver up to 6 A rms of continuous output current to the motor. A separate 24 VDC auxiliary input supports fieldbus electronics and the trigger circuits of the integrated safety relays. The output current form factor of 1.01 indicates that the synthesized waveform closely tracks a pure sine, which helps limit additional motor heating. Rotation control remains stable as long as the motor presents at least 7.5 mH of phase inductance, and lower values require external reactors. For higher-inductance motors, the unit tolerates up to 40 mH before the current regulators lose dynamic range. Thermal design centers on a rated dissipation of 60 W under full load, and quiescent loss is lower when the output stage is idle. The power section is sized for a 4 kVA installed load, and an internal relay can switch auxiliary circuits up to 500 mA without exceeding its contact rating. Residual voltage drop across the power stage is limited to 5 V, which helps preserve motor torque at low speeds. Total mass is 4 kg, and an optional SERCOS expansion module plugs into the rear slot for deterministic network communication.
