Product Description:
The S60600-550 is a three-phase servo amplifier manufactured by Kollmorgen for its S600 Servo Drives series. Classified as an S600 servo drive, the unit converts plant AC power into regulated motor currents so that closed-loop torque, speed, and position control can be implemented in automated assembly machines, packaging stations, and handling axes. It mounts inside control cabinets and connects to higher-level motion controllers through fieldbus or analog command interfaces.
At the power stage, the drive accepts line voltages from 230 to 480 V and can deliver a continuous phase current of 6 A rms while supporting short-term demands up to 12 A rms. The apparent power drawn from the mains reaches 4 kVA, and thermal losses are limited to 60 W at rated current. Motor windings must have an inductance between 7.5 mH and 40 mH; values outside this range can cause overcurrent trips or degraded current regulation. A residual voltage drop of 5 V occurs across the power semiconductors during regeneration. The control logic consumes 1 A from the auxiliary supply when no brake is fitted and 3 A when a motor brake is connected. The enclosure is rated IP20, providing protection against contact with hazardous internal parts but not against water. The chassis measures 70 mm wide and 265 mm deep, allowing side-by-side installation while limiting the required panel space.
The unit integrates a 33 Ω braking resistor that can dissipate regenerated energy continuously at up to 200 W, eliminating the need for external braking components in many high-cycle applications. The enclosure stands 275 mm tall and weighs 4 kg, which limits the load placed on the cabinet mounting structure. An onboard brake transistor controls resistor use to help prevent overheating during repeated deceleration. Kollmorgen separates the auxiliary supply from the main bus so that the control electronics remain stable during mains surges or rapid deceleration events. This separation also allows the low-voltage control circuits to remain energized independently of the motor power stage when supported by the system wiring. The installation must provide suitable cabinet ventilation so that heat from the amplifier and braking resistor can be removed during continuous operation.
