The S60301-550 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the S600 Servo Drives series. Designed to regulate torque, speed, and position of matched synchronous or induction motors in automated machinery, it fits easily into control cabinets thanks to its 70 mm width, 265 mm depth, and 275 mm height. A mass of 4 kg keeps handling straightforward while still providing a rigid heat sink structure for continuous duty.

This drive accepts an input line from 230...480 V, allowing the same unit to be connected to either 230 V or 400 V three-phase networks without tap changes. Its power stage is switched at 8 kHz, a clock frequency that improves current loop resolution and reduces audible noise. Continuous output capability is 3 A rms, which matches medium-frame servo motors used on pick-and-place axes. A 2 kVA rated installed load figure indicates the maximum apparent power that must be reserved in the cabinet power budget. Dynamic braking energy is dissipated through an internal resistor of 66 Ω, with the control electronics monitoring the element via a 20 kΩ input resistance path. The AS option adds extended encoder support, and a built-in restart lock prevents automatic re-energizing after mains interruptions.

When inertia or overhauling loads generate more energy than the internal network can absorb, a terminal for an external 33 Ω brake resistor is provided. Internal brake circuitry can handle 80 W continuously, while total heat loss from the power electronics at rated current is 40 W, simplifying enclosure ventilation calculations. The current regulator remains stable on loads whose inductance lies between 12 mH and the allowed ceiling of 75 mH; operation outside this span may cause excessive ripple or delay.
