Product Description:
The S60301 is a servo amplifier from Kollmorgen that belongs to the S600 Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase line power into regulated motor current for precise position and velocity control in industrial automation machinery. The amplifier communicates with the motion controller through the AS electrical option and controls regenerative bus voltage during deceleration. This combination supports rapid acceleration, controlled braking, and repeatable movement on servo-driven production equipment.
The power stage accepts line supplies from 230 to 480 V and delivers a continuous phase current of 3 A rms. During acceleration, the output can surge to 6 A rms for additional motor torque. The auxiliary logic circuit operates from 24 VDC, keeping the control electronics electrically separated from the main power bus. At nominal load, the inverter has an apparent power rating of 2 kVA. Its output current form factor of 1.01 indicates a nearly sinusoidal motor waveform that helps limit copper heating. The connected motor circuit must have an inductance from 12 mH to 75 mH so the current regulator can remain stable. An internal resistor rated at 66 Ω dissipates moderate regenerative energy, while an optional 33 Ω external resistor accommodates applications with greater braking demand. Power dissipation is 15 W while the unit is idle and rises to 40 W during rated operation, so the enclosure must provide suitable ventilation.
The drive provides up to 80 W of continuous brake power for a compatible holding-brake coil. This output capacity helps prevent the coil from being operated beyond its allowable power level. A residual voltage drop of 5 V across the power stage must be considered when calculating the voltage available to the motor under dynamic loading. The housing is 70 mm wide, 265 mm deep, and 275 mm high, allowing multiple units to be mounted side by side in compact multi-axis control panels. Adequate spacing around the housing supports airflow and prevents heat from adjacent devices from accumulating around the amplifier.
