The S60300-EI is a digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the S600 Servo Drives series. It serves as the power and control interface between a motion controller and a synchronous or induction servomotor, converting fixed-frequency line power into precisely timed output current. By closing the current and velocity loops internally, the drive enables accurate positioning and repeatable speed regulation on packaging machines, gantry axes, and other computer-controlled automation equipment.
The power stage accepts a line supply of 230 to 480 V, so no transformer is needed when switching between common plant voltages. Continuous motor excitation is limited to 3 A rms, yet the unit can deliver 6 A rms during short acceleration peaks. Current is switched at 8 kHz, a carrier frequency that minimizes audible noise and improves dynamic torque response. The IP20 enclosure protects against accidental contact with hazardous components, but the module must be mounted inside a cabinet. Analog command inputs have an impedance of 20 kΩ to ground, ensuring minimal burden on upstream control electronics. For motor holding functions, the drive can directly power an external brake coil at 24 V with up to 2 A of output current.
The converter supports an installed load of 2 kVA and dissipates only 40 W at rated current, which reduces enclosure cooling requirements. Motor windings with inductance between 12 mH and 75 mH are compatible with the output filter, preventing excessive ripple or current spikes. A residual voltage drop of 5 V appears across the drive at full load while preserving torque delivery to the connected motor. The aluminum housing measures 70 mm wide, 275 mm high, and 265 mm deep, allowing compact placement in a multi-axis cabinet.
