Product Description:

The SERVOSTAR-446M-P servo amplifier is engineered for demanding industrial applications which require high quality motion and offers extended communication and safety functions. This amplifier allows these operations with various bit rates: 125 kbit, 250 kbit, and 500 kbit, level of configurations can be varied as per the prevailing system needs. This amplifier is capable of handling communication distances of full nodes of 64 up to 500 meters at 125 kBaud, 250 meters at 250 kBaud, and 100 meters at 500 kBaud. The device has a typical powered-on configuration of shunt C = 5pF, Shunt R = 25K for differential input signaling which aids stability during signal processing and a min value differential input of Shunt C = 24 pF + 36 pF/m of the attached stub cable minus shunt R = 20 K.

Typically, the range of absolute values of the maximum voltage at the amplifiers CAN_H and CAN_L terminals would not exceed (-25 to +18) volts that provides some sort of persevering protection under different electrical conditions. The DeviceNet network is required to be grounded in one single position to prevent ground loops, while all the circuitry of the physical layer of all the devices is grounded to the V-bus.

The ground connection of the bus system is provided through the power supply system, and the structure of the system is linear bus configuration with terminating resistors employed on either end of the interconnecting cables. Stub cables can be used as long as or no more than 6 meters in length acceptable for at least one cross-connection with use of termination resistors of 120 resistors ohms plus minus 1% to metal film 1/4-0.25 W.

Frequently Asked Questions about SERVOSTAR-446M-P:

Q: What communication bit rates and distances does the SERVOSTAR 446M-P support?

A: The SERVOSTAR 446M-P supports multiple communication bit rates: 125 kbit, 250 kbit, and 500 kbit. It can handle communication distances of up to 500 meters at 125 kBaud, 250 meters at 250 kBaud, and 100 meters at 500 kBaud, allowing it to operate effectively in various industrial setups.

Q: What are the input signal stability and protection features of the SERVOSTAR 446M-P?

A: The amplifier features a powered-on configuration of Shunt C = 5 pF and Shunt R = 25K for differential input signaling, enhancing signal stability during processing. It also has a minimum differential input of Shunt C = 24 pF + 36 pF/m of attached stub cable minus Shunt R = 20K, ensuring reliable signal integrity. The maximum voltage at the CAN_H and CAN_L terminals ranges from -25V to +18V, providing robust protection under various electrical conditions.

Q: How is grounding managed in the SERVOSTAR 446M-Ps DeviceNet network?

A: The DeviceNet network must be grounded at a single point to prevent ground loops. All physical layer circuitry of the devices is grounded to the V-bus. The ground connection of the bus system is provided through the power supply system, ensuring a stable and interference-free operation.

Q: What is the recommended bus system configuration for the SERVOSTAR 446M-P?

A: The SERVOSTAR 446M-P uses a linear bus configuration with terminating resistors at either end of the interconnecting cables. Stub cables can be used if they are no longer than 6 meters, and the system must use termination resistors of 120 ohms ~1% with metal film 1/4-0.25 W to ensure proper signal termination and prevent reflections.

Q: How does the SERVOSTAR 446M-P handle electrical stability and signal integrity in demanding industrial environments?

A: The amplifier is designed with robust protection features, including maximum voltage limits at CAN_H and CAN_L terminals, and a well-managed grounding system. The configuration of shunt capacitance and resistance in the differential input signaling provides enhanced stability and signal integrity, ensuring reliable operation in demanding industrial environments.
