The SERVOSTAR-403A-CA is a drive controller produced by Kollmorgen for the S400 Servo Drives series. It accepts position or velocity commands from higher-level motion modules and supplies regulated current to a connected servo motor, enabling closed-loop axis control in assembly, packaging, and material-handling equipment. By isolating the motor power circuitry from the control electronics, the unit maintains repeatable performance under varying load conditions. This separation also helps keep low-level command signals away from high-current switching activity inside the drive.

The drive has four digital inputs that can gate enable, select preset speeds, or trigger quick-stop routines, while two digital outputs report fault or ready status back to the PLC. The analog command port resolves changes as small as 1.25 mV, which supports smooth torque transitions in tensioning or winding tasks. Internally, a current form factor of 1.01 keeps RMS and average values nearly identical, limiting copper losses.
