The S403M-SE is a single-axis servo drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S400 Servo Drives series. The unit interfaces with permanent-magnet synchronous or asynchronous motors and regulates speed, torque, and position in automated machinery such as pick-and-place gantries and packaging lines. By integrating power electronics, signal processing, and network communication inside one enclosure, the drive provides the closed-loop actuation required for precise motion sequences across industrial automation cells.

An analog command channel is converted at a resolution of 14-bit, giving the controller fine incremental steps for velocity or torque setpoints. The internal digital host executes motion routines at a clock of 8 kHz, while the current loop is refreshed every 62.5 µs. This short cycle limits current ripple and improves dynamic response.
