Product Description:

The S31061-SN is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen and assigned to the S300 Servo Drives series. In an automation cell, it modulates the current and voltage delivered to a matched servomotor so that position, speed, and torque follow motion commands from a PLC or motion controller. Its control section monitors feedback signals while the power stage directs energy from the AC mains to the motor, enabling accurate movement in pick-and-place actuators, gantry axes, or winding stations.

This model accepts a mains supply between 110 to 230 V, allowing installation on either single-phase 115 V feeders or two-phase 230 V industrial panels. The converter can draw up to 4 kVA, so the upstream supply must be sized for that load. A continuous output capability of 10 A rms supports medium-frame motors without forcing the drive into thermal derating. Inside the unit, the DC link is limited to 450 VDC so the internal capacitors, IGBTs, and connected braking elements remain within their voltage limits. Current is chopped at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz, giving smooth torque production while keeping switching losses within the 50 W internal brake power allowance. When high-frequency acoustic noise must be reduced, the drive can switch to a 16 kHz reduced-current mode.

Cabinet layout is helped by the drive’s 171 mm depth and narrow 70 mm front width, leaving more rail space for filters or I/O modules. The installation weight is only 2.8 kg, which keeps handling simple during panel assembly. Protection against unintended motion is provided by the integrated STO function, which removes torque-producing energy paths when activated. An onboard 66 Ω brake resistor, together with an external 1 kW brake port, dissipates regenerated energy. The mechanical outline includes a height of 246 mm, which fits standard 19-inch enclosures.
