Product Description:

The S31061-PN is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the S300 Servo Drives series. As a closed-loop power stage, it interfaces between a motion controller and a three-phase servomotor, converting supply energy into regulated current and voltage profiles for industrial automation axes. Its function is to deliver precise torque, velocity, and position control in packaging machines, material-handling gantries, and other machinery that demands dynamic, low-inertia motion. Because the control loop is closed, the drive can correct for changing load conditions while maintaining commanded motion on transfer, indexing, and positioning axes during rapid speed and direction changes.

Its control electronics are powered from an auxiliary bus of 24 VDC, keeping logic active during main-power cycling. The drive accepts a device input of 110–230 V single-phase AC and rectifies it to a DC bus that may rise to 450 VDC under regenerative conditions. At the motor terminals, it can supply continuous current for typical loads and deliver a peak of 20 Arms for short accelerations. A built-in brake chopper manages returned energy during deceleration, and the base I/O block provides 2 analog inputs, 4 digital inputs, and 2 digital outputs for local interlocks and feedback.

The switching stage operates at 8 kHz, which helps minimize torque ripple in high-bandwidth applications. Its continuous output capability is 10 A rms, supplied from a mains side rated at 4 kVA, allowing mid-frame servomotors to run without derating. To protect personnel and machinery, the integrated STO function meets the SIL2 safety level and can disconnect torque within the specified reaction time. The internal regeneration circuit dissipates 80 W and works with a 66 Ohm brake resistor. The housing has an IP20 rating, measures 70 × 246 × 171 mm, and weighs 2.8 kg for installation in tightly populated control cabinets.
