Product Description:
The S31061-PB is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S300 Servo Drives series. It serves as the power stage between a PLC or motion controller and a synchronous motor, regulating current and voltage to execute precise speed and position commands in automated machinery. An auxiliary supply of 24 V DC maintains the control electronics when the main line is off. The housing is sized for compact cabinet installation.
The drive accepts a line input in the range of 110–230 V AC, and from this it creates a DC link that may rise to 450 V DC under regenerative conditions. Continuous motor excitation is supported by a phase current of 10 A rms, and the power section is rated for 4 kVA to match mid-frame servo motors used on packaging or assembly stations. Pulse-width modulation occurs at 8 kHz, a switching frequency that reduces torque ripple while keeping IGBT losses manageable. The unit measures 70 mm in width, 246 mm in height, and 171 mm in depth, so multiple drives can be stacked on a standard 300 mm panel. An IP20 metal housing provides basic finger protection inside the cabinet. Two analog inputs, four digital inputs, and two digital outputs are available for standalone indexing tasks, and a PROFIBUS expansion card links the unit to higher-level fieldbuses for distributed motion control.
Machine safety is addressed with a hardware-based STO function that meets SIL2 probability targets, ensuring torque production ceases when the circuit is driven low. During rapid deceleration, an internal resistor can absorb up to 80 W of regenerative energy, reducing the need for external braking hardware. Operation is specified up to 40 °C, and above this point the inverter must be derated or externally cooled. The housing leaves room for bus bars and nearby wiring inside the cabinet.
