Product Description:

The S30661-PN is a servo drive from Kollmorgen supplied within the S300 Servo Drives series. The device is intended to regulate torque, speed, and position for synchronous or induction motors used in industrial automation cells, machine tools, and similar motion systems. By converting fixed-frequency mains power into a variable AC output while monitoring feedback, it forms the core interface between a motion controller and the motor.

On the power side, the drive accepts a single- or three-phase input of 110…230 V and rectifies it to build an internal DC link. During nominal loading, the inverter delivers 6 A rms of output current and draws up to 2.4 kVA from the supply. Pulse-width modulation is performed at 8 kHz, and a reduced-current setting shifts the carrier to 16 kHz to limit acoustic emissions. If the DC bus rises beyond 455 VDC, an overvoltage circuit disables gating, and continuous operation is capped at 450 VDC. The motor requires a minimum phase inductance of 2.6 mH when powered from 3 × 230 V. Two programmable analog inputs, four digital inputs, and two digital outputs connect sensors or PLC commands, and the integrated STO function removes drive energy without mechanical relays. With control disabled, thermal dissipation falls to 12 W.

Control electronics are powered from an 24 V DC auxiliary feed, allowing fieldbus communication and parameter retention even when the mains source is isolated. The auxiliary supply also allows network communication to remain available during controlled shutdowns. During switching events, the output stage exhibits a voltage rise of 3.3 kV/µs, enabling rapid current regulation while maintaining a residual drop of 4 V between the DC link and motor terminals. Under rated load, the heat sink must disperse 60 W, which should be considered when planning cabinet ventilation.
