Product Description:
The S30601-SE-SB is a servo amplifier built by Kollmorgen for the S300 Servo Drives series. The unit conditions incoming three-phase mains power and delivers modulated current to a matched servo motor, forming the power interface between a motion controller and a mechanical axis. It executes commanded velocity, torque, and position profiles with millisecond response while protecting both the machine and motor. Integration with fieldbus or analog command sources allows it to support packaging, material-handling, and assembly equipment.
Power enters the servo amplifier at 208 to 480 V AC, allowing direct connection to common industrial mains. From this supply, the converter supports a rated input power of 5 kVA and delivers a continuous phase current of 6 A rms to the motor terminals, while transient demands are handled by a peak current of 12 A rms during short acceleration periods. An IGBT bridge that switches at 8 kHz produces the pulse-width-modulated output, and the internal DC bus is limited to 900 V DC. Excess regenerative energy is dissipated through a built-in 91-ohm brake resistor with a thermal rating of 50 W, keeping the bus within safe limits. The residual voltage drop across the power stage remains below 5 V, helping preserve torque at the shaft.
Fast servo behavior is supported by control cycles of 62.5 microseconds for the current loop and speed loop, along with a 250-microsecond update cycle for the position loop. The digital command channel is provided by an optional SERCOS expansion card, while logic circuits, relay drivers, and encoder power receive an auxiliary supply of 24 V DC. A hardware-level STO circuit removes drive output energy during safety-related stops without relying on software. The housing has a width of 70 mm and a depth of 171 mm, supporting installation in space-constrained control cabinets. Its thermal dissipation at nominal load is 90 W, which provides the heat-load value needed for cabinet airflow calculations.
